RSGB UK Activity Contests Final Results 2019

WADARC finished 4th out of 117 affiliated Clubs in the UK !

The 2019 RSGB UKAC evening contests again ended a much less controversial year.  While it's impossible to please everybody all of the time, there was respect for the current points system.

Total individual operators were slightly down again from 732 to 696 and one less club took part.

The Wirral & District Amateur Radio Club finished in 4th Position out of 81 clubs in the General Club Section.  A very creditable position considering we are not a contest group but an enthusiastic Radio Club.  It was another tremendous result, due in no small part to the continued enthusiasm and guidance from Denis G3UVR and Frank G8REQ.

Overall Club final results for 2019

Overall, out of the 696 individual Amateur stations taking part in 2019 Denis G3UVR finished in 4th position in the UK overall, with Bob M1MHZ was a close 8th and right on his heels was Frank in13th place. A very tight finish and well done to everyone who took part.

Once again, WADARC continued to enjoy the added generosity of points from our country member Bob G1ZJP (operating as M1MHZ).  We thank him for every one of those points which helped our position no end.

As I have said before the above three are no good on their own and it's each and every point spread over a group of stations, all regular contesters, which helps to pull us into the top group so a big "Well Done" to Paul GW0MDQ, Neil M0WBG, George M0HWO and Tom G4BKF for their contributions.

Overall Individual scores and positions out of 696 taking part Year ending 2019

On SHF, Once again in 2019, the greatest increase in activity was seen in the SHF or microwave sections.  Here once again WADARC is up there with the best of them.

On 2.3GHz, Denis beat his own personal best with no less than 5 Top Scores of 1,000 points out of 8 contests. Excellent ! it hardly describes such a great result and with it came the honour of "Winner, Restricted Section"  a BIG "Well Done Denis" from us all.

On 10GHz, Wirral came 3rd place with yet another high placing thanks to Denis G3UVR

We are primarily a Radio Club and many of our members have jobs, families and other interests which make operating every Tuesday/Thursday plus attending Radio Club Meetings on a Wednesday as well, pretty tricky !  It requires plenty of family diplomacy, and makes their contribution of completing in as many monthly events as possible so appreciated.

Not everyone has every band available due to limited radio's and antennas, but to use a well worn phrase .. "Each operator's contribution is still very important to us"

So, a BIG thank you to you and your considerate families.

We are delighted to report some new Country Members have joined us and are contributing their UKAC scores to WADARC for 2020.  We offer them a very warm welcome :-  Andy GD0AMD, David G8LZE, David G8ZRE,  Mike G0CDA and Simon MW0XAD

If, after reading this .. you think you might like to join in for the 2˝ hours on a Tuesday/Thursday evening - even if it is only for the 144MHz contest .. but would like more information on any details of the activity .. please do ask anyone of us shown in the list at either a club meeting or a Drink & Waffle as we would all be only too pleased to share our experiences and enjoyment with you and help get you started.

Roll on 2020 .. I feel an exciting year coming on !

Neil G4OAR
